What an amazing trip this has been. I can honestly say it's probably been our best family vacation to date! Maui is so full of natural beauty. We would all love to stay for another week!
The view from our room on our final day. A beautiful, clear Maui morning! That is Lanai across the water. Dragon's teeth lava formation on Makalua-puna Point. The salt spray on the upwind side of the point has etched the lava into its current state. More from Makalua-puna Point. It was remarkable to see the impact of the ocean on the lava. The boys noticed that a rainbow formed whenever a big way crashed into this cove, good eyes :) Checking out the snails in the tide pools. We were surprised to discover this maze out on the point. It way made by rocks and small plants. Someone spent a lot of time creating this. We saw another maze just like it later in the day, although not as well maintained. No sure what their purpose is? Honolula Bay was rockin' today. There were about 30 surfers on each of these 2 breaks. The waves looked like they were at least 15 feet and the tube was so clean. One of the surfers was standing with us as we watched and his excitement was awesome! He said it was so good that guys were flying in from Oahu. Our final destination :) On our way over to Maui Colin and I read an article in the Hawaiian Airlines magazine about this shop. It has been run by the same Chinese family for generations. Guri guri is a yummy cross between sherbert and ice cream. We all had the combo of their 2 flavors, strawberry and pineapple. Apparently the recipe is a well-guarded family secret.
