Aloha Maui!

The flight to Maui was a breeze! After we got our rockin' red Mustang (not the best family car, but there was no way we could send this race car back!) we headed straight for Haleakala National Park. The drive was full of twists and turns and we had to watch our for cattle on the road ;)

Very excited about the red race car (I'll post a picture another time...)

The crater at Haleakala. We were at the summit at about 10,000ft. From there we could see Moana Loa and Moana Kea on the big island. It was beautiful and the colors were amazing.
While in the National Park the boys completed the Citizen Scientist program and got badges for their hard work. They learned about the geology of Haleakala, the weather up on the mountain (Colin found out he could blow harder than the wind on the mountain was blowing today) and we went bird watching for the I'iwi and some other native Hawaiian birds.

At the Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm in the Uplands of Maui. It was a beautiful farm many different varieties of lavender. They had a very fun treasure hunt for the kids to do that took us all around the garden. It was a riot to watch them run to the next destination. The highlight for them were the lavender short bread cookies they received as their prize. Thankfully they gave them 4 :) Yummy!Welcome to the hotel! The bellman told them to hop on and enjoy the ride :)
