We started day 2 in Maui a bit early... Ryan woke up at 5:15 and was not going back to sleep. So, Ryan, Colin and I went down to see the sunrise while Daddy got a little more shut-eye (he actually got up and did some work).

Sunrise from the beach in Maui.
The early start kicked off an AMAZING day!! We met Mel, our naturalist, for a great turtle snorkeling adventure. He taught us a great deal about the giant green sea turtles, then we hit the water! We snorkeled for 2 hours and saw 23 turtles, tons of fish and got to inspect and touch 2 different kinds of sea urchins. It was awesome!

Then we headed to Lahaina for lunch and to hit the library for some books.

On the huge banyan tree in downtown Lahaina. This famous tree covers an entire block. A must climb!

Post-library stop in the art market under the banyan tree.

Back at the hotel, we hit the pool for a bit. What a great day!
ps-we've seen tons of whales from the beach, but hope to see them up close tomorrow morning on our sunrise whale watching cruise. another early morning...
